After the final which took place in the Chapelle Corneille of Rouen on October 23, 2021, the jury awarded to the three finalists the following price :

Julien Chun-Yen Lai

Chun-Yen LAI starts playing the clarinet at the age of 9. After graduating from the High School in Taiwan, he goes abroad in France and Switzerland. He gets several distinctions successively with Florent Héau (CRR de Rueil Malmaison), Nicolas Baldeyrou and Franck Amet (CNSM de Lyon), and then Romain Guyot (HEM de Geneva). He completes his master's degrees of CNSM de Lyon in 2019.

In 2011, he receives the first prize of International Mozart Clarinet Competition in Beijing when he is only 17, and then he also gets the first prize of Buffet Crampon Clarinet Competition in 2012 and 2014. In 2016 he is one of the four finalists of the clarinet solo audition a t the Opera of La Monnaie de Munt in Belgium. In 2018, he is selected as one of the candidates to participate the 73th International Geneva Competition, the same year, he gets also the scholarship reward of the Yamaha Europe Music Foundation in Paris.

He also often plays in famous orchestras like: Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Orchestre National de Lyon, Opéra National de Lyon, National Orchestra of Taiwan, Ensemble Les Dissonances, Taiwan Connection, etc. In 2015, he is invated to perform at the International Clarinet Festival of Magic Clarinet Quartet. In 2016, he performs in the Radio of France Musique with Nicolas Baldeyrou. And the in 2017, he is invited as a soloist with the Orchestra of CNSM de Lyon.

Since 2017, he has invited as one of the member in the Taiwan Connection Chamber Orchestra. In 2019, he is appointed as the associate principal clarinet in the Taiwan Philharmonic Orchestra.

Luz Sedeño

Luz Sedeño begins her studies in Granada, Spain, at the age of 6.

She continues Bachelor degree at Conservatory of Music of the Basque Country, San Sebastián (Musikene) with the teachers: Antony Pay, José Luis Estellés and Henri Bok (bass clarinet) where she finishes with High Honors in Chamber Music and Clarinet.

Currently, Luz Sedeño does a Master Concert degree at Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève with teachers: Romain Guyot (clarinet), Antoine Marguier (bass clarinet) and Benoît Willmann (E flat clarinet).

In 2018, she wins first prize in “Mravinsky International Competition” in Saint Petersburd and first prize “Miglior solista con Orchestra” in Castrocaro Terme del Sole (Italy). In 2016, she wins the first prize in “Il Rookie Box Chamber Music Competition” with “Trio Amets”. In 2014, she wins the first prize and special mention of the jury of the “Angel Barrios National Competition”. In 2011, she wins first prize in “Ogíjares Young Performers National Competition” where she also gets first prize in flute category the following year.

Luz Sedeño has performed as a soloist with: St. Petersburg State Academic Symphony Orchestra (Clarinet Concerto K622 - W.A. Mozart), Paulavičius Youth Symphony Orchestra of St. Petersburg (Introduction, Theme and Variations - G. Rossini), Granada Classic Orchestra (Concerto n1 in La M - J.M. Molter), Musikene Symphony Orchestra (Une Couleur for Contrabass Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Alto Clarinet, Bb Clarinet and Eb Clarinet - Luis de Pablo), “Marco Allegri” Orchestra of Italy (Variazioni in do - G. Rossini), Angel Barrios Orchestra of Granada (Concerto n1 op. 73 - Carl Maria von Weber).

Luz Sedeño has also played recitals and concerts at festivals such as: “International Festival Europeans Concert” in Saint Petersburg, “Quincena Musical Festival of San Sebastian” Radio Clásica of Spain and Fundación Juan March (Madrid).

She is member of the Young National Orchestra of Spain (JONDE) and has been part of the Young Orchestra of Andalucía (OJA), Orchestra University of Granada (OUGR), Young Orchestra of Granada (JOSG), Young Orchestra of Southern Spain (JOSE), Symphonic Orchestra of Musikene, Sinfonietta Musikene.

She has also collaborated with professional orchestras such Ensemble Contrechamps Genève, Bilbao Orchestra Symphonic (BOS), Basque National Orchestra (OSE), Orchestra City of Granada (OCG), Orchestra City of Almeriá (OCAL), Hispanian Symphony Orchestra (HSO). Additionally, she made an international tour through China with Enarmonía Orchestra playing in the best auditoriums.

Hector Noriega

Mexican-born clarinetist, Hector has been prize winner of major competitions, including first prize at the Zukovky Clarinet Competition, second prize at the Redlands Bowl Concerto Competition, and first prize at Mexico's National Clarinet Competition, and has also been a finalist at the International Clarinet Association's High School Competition. He has performed with the Orchestra of the Americas, BU Tanglewood Institute Young Artist Orchestra, the Juilliard Orchestra, and has been guest principal with the Albany Symphony Orchestra and UNAM's Philharmonic Orchestra in Mexico City.

He has taken masterclasses and private lessons with clarinetists such as Philippe Berrod, Pierre Génisson, Burt Hara, Richie Hawley, Manuel Hernández, Andrew Marriner, Pascual Martínez Forteza, Anthony McGill, Ricardo Morales, Charles Neidish, Socrates Villegas, Michael Wayne and Stephen Williamson.

Hector has performed in chamber music concerts alongside with members of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra of Norway, has worked with world-renowned pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet, and performed in a special concert for the US Ambassador to China at his official residence in Beijing. Hector also performed Weber Clarinet Concerto No. 2 with the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra at the Redlands Bowl in Los Angeles, USA.

Hector began his clarinet studies with Luis Miguel Balseca in his native Mexico and in 2018 received a Music Academy diploma form the Colburn School, where he studied with Yehuda Gilad. A proud recipient of a Kovner Fellowship, Hector is currently a Bachelor of Music candidate at the Juilliard School, where he studies with Jon Manasse.
